Danilo

Danilo was one of Jared's baptisms in Tres Lagoas. They became very close friends.

well i am baptizing a kid named danilo this saturday. hi is a stud. he is SO ready its ridiculous. right when we first taught him he was asking what he has to do to be baptized. lol. he was talking about how a lot of churches have tried to baptize him, but he kept telling them no, because he didn't feel right about it. we were at his house yesterday with his uncle and niece (member), and we had a family home evening, or we call it a noite familiar! lol. his uncledid the message. it was about enduring until the end and that his baptism is not the end, its the beginnin. it went so so good! and guess what he said? he wants to go on a mission!! how amazing would that be??

danilo received the priesthood yesterday at church! it was awesome! man he is so curious about EVERYTHING! he came to our house yesterday night for a little while and we were all talking about the priesthood and such. it was really cool! :) to be honest, its harder that it looks to explain the difference between the two priesthoods in portuguese...haha. it was an...adventure? haha. but i think i got down enough for him to understand. and i had to explain to him what the docterine and covenants were. cause he didn't know. but that went really well too. it just made him more excited!

Mission Home

So Jared had to be transferred to the mission home because he got very sick from Denge Fever. He lossed 16 pounds. It made him very sick. So they transferred him to the mission home so they could keep a better eye on him and fatten him up a bit.

you know i was feelin a little sick like i told you last pday. but that isnt even the news! i got transfered! yep. i know. kinda out of no where huh? so guess what i am doing? i am now working in the secretaries office! which sounds all cool and stuff...you know...air conditioning, no walking miles and miles at a time, clean shoes. but i do not want to be here at all..i want to be back in Tres lagoas working.. there were a bunch of people who were so ready to be baptized there, and now i am not going to be able to see them progress and actually get baptized. its super super frustrating... :( but the thing is i am still on the lords errand. if he wants me here then i am going to stay here and not complain. i am going to do my best and work as hard as i can. even if i will be in a different way. the lord wanted me here right now, so this is the place i will do his work!

i got to call my companion in Tres lagoas to just check up on the people we have been teaching and stuff. well...one family we were teaching went to church! the ENTIRE family! thats not even the best part...the children, are ALL getting baptized next sunday! of man. we i found out i just starting screaming. haha. i was so happy! we have been working with them really hard, and they always have something to do on sunday and stuff, and its been hard to get them to church. but yesterday they did, and i guess they liked it a ton!! the parents cant get baptized yet because they are not married... BUT they are starting to do the marriage paperwork this week! and they can be married and baptized in 3 weeks! i am so happy right now its ridiculous! :)

Três Lagoas

Well Tres Lagoas was Jared's first area in his mission. He loved it there and he loved his companion. They worked really well together and had many baptizisms and had many investigators. He is such a great missionary.

we taught this super super poor lady. like unbelievably poor. house is barely standing, no doors, barely a roof. dirt floors. just super sad. of course she is happy as a lamb though! :) i already felt so selfish just walking in there. how i complained about so much! ah! it kills me!

guess what...we have the second biggest area in my mission. lol. and you know what that means!! walking walking walking walking. like i never have before.

we have another baptism on sunday too! valdineia! she is awesome! she just resently moved here to Tres Lagoas like 2 months ago. she is super super nice. she is about 24. she lives alone and has no children or pets. lol. when we first taught her we left telling each other, yep, she is going to be baptized. lol. she is like way spiritual, and you can tell that she is really really ready. we told her that we would be stopping by her house sunday morning to walk with her to church, and when we came around the corner she was in front of her house in her church clothes, and she was reading o livro de mormon! we both looked at each other and said milagres!! miracles! she loved church!

i say a funny thing when i was walking the other day. a duck, and a dog were fighting. yep, i can guess what you thought happened right? well your probably wrong. the duck was kickin the tar our of the dog. lol. it wasn't a small dog either. lol.

well yesterday we went to a members house for lunch like always, and guess what they had. potatoes with apples inside them....like huh?? it wasn't really bad, it was just weird. lol. well they had something to go along with it too....chicken feet. yep. i ate 4. lol. they were very very odd i will tell you that, but especially here, you never say no. lol. and when you finish one, they make you eat more cause they think you are too skinny. haha. and we need energy to baptize everyone! well dessert was exciting. rice and milk. literally.

BRAZIL!!!!!

Well this first week in brasil has been AMAZING! i love it here so much! it is absolutely nuts here! no one knows how to drive! ok....let me rephrase that... they either never learned or they are pro. haha. they are so crazy on the streets. on our way to the temple today we actually hit a ladies umbrella right out of her hand in the bus we were in, cause we were so close to her!

it is really so much better than provo! it is WAY more relaxed, and totally less stressful, but i am learning just as much or more than in provo.

one thing that is super cool is having all of the brazileiros everywhere! cause then my portuguese gets a lot better cause i just talk to them all the time.

one thing that is hard to get used to is the heat!! its nuts here! its winter, but its still about 80 degress, and humidity is crazy high!

i felt so so so lucky to live where i live and have what i have. so THANK YOU!!! oh! about the temple! it was amazing! it has probably been my favorite temple i have ever been too so far. it is amazing! so so so so pretty. but we arent allowed to take our cameras there cause we might get mugged if we pull it out ever. lol. but i think they are going to let us the last p day we are here so we can get pictures with our district and everyone infront of the temple. the MTC is SO much different than provo! its so funny! provo has like 2500 people, and here has about 195.

we actually had TRC this last saturday. which is weird cause here you only have 1 the entire time you are here! in provo we had them every week! but of coarse it is all in portuguese. lol. so i guess its a little harder...but it went really well!!! my companion is still having a really hard time with the language, but i try my best to help him when he needs it, and when i think he can get it, i just let him struggle. lol. i know it sounds bad, but here that is seriously what you have to do because you learn a ton faster that way. so i looked at our investigator because he really wanted to help him out with the frist vision in portuguese. but i looked at him and kind of shook him off in a way. he knew what i was talking about, but you could tell that he felt bad. we have multiple lessons everyday, like with brazilians and stuff, pretending to be investigators and such, and yesterday was i think the best time i have done so far! like it was so nice! our lesson went really well.

Dropping Elder Romney Off...

Here we all are dropping Elder Romney off at the MTC. We are all so proud of him. Saying goodbye to him was a bitter sweet moment. Its never fun to say goodbye but he is doing the lords work, so we are proud of him.
